FordPass + FordPass Pro
FordPass + FordPass Pro
FordPass + FordPass Pro
Summary: When working at VMLY&R I became the Product Design Lead on Ford's native mobile app for the EU market. Here I regularly sat with PM's, Designers, Developers and senior Ford stakeholders. We operated in an Agile model and I oversaw a design team. I worked across FordPass and FordPass Pro - which covers both their standard and commercial fleets. I've been involved in prototyping, user research (summative) and user flows, amongst many other things. A particular highlight was creating a prototype for Ford’s CEO, who gave it high praise.

"J was massively happy! Great job!"
Ford's CEO (at the time) Jim Hackett loved my prototype after being shown it by Ford's European FordPass Manager.

Wireframes
It would take too long to go through every decision I've made for the multiple work streams I've worked on for Ford so here's a rough overview into my general process. Most projects started off with strategy, scamps and scribbles. This can take a few minutes or a couple of days depending on complexity. After a route is chosen, I move into Figma / Sketch. If using Sketch, Craft is an excellent plugin for quickly seeing if a flow is working. Sometimes Designers forget about the flow and focus on single screens, it's important to consider both. Linking JSON strings with Craft and pulling live API data into a prototype adds a whole new level of meaning to it, and really makes it pop to the client. These are some onboarding wireframes:

One of my many tasks was to design vehicle health alerts. The tricky thing here was making the most of screen real-estate whilst not hiding important information which could in some cases be critical for vehicle health.
Flows
I've worked on too many flows to count but here's one I pulled together of the FordPassPro log-in / reg journeys. What's so good about them is that they quickly get all the stakeholders on the same page. For more complex flows, please look at my EE and Rolls-Royce work.
Flows
I've worked on too many flows to count but here's one I made for FordPass Pro log-in / reg journeys. Flows get all the stakeholders on the same page. This is quite a tame flow, I prefer when it crosses multiple systems and channels, like many of the ones I did with EE and Rolls-Royce.
When I wasn't designing the app, I was either on FordPass or with the wider connectivity teams designing experiences for web to help market the product. Below is a landing page wireframe for the launch of the app to sit on Ford.co.uk. It was important (and quite restrictive) that each module was in our design system. I became a crucial link in this partnership between teams as they hadn't yet been involved in Pro (Because it was kept deliberately confidential before launch).
